8 Day itinerary Morocco from Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco! The first day of your 8 Day Morocco tour begins upon arrival at Marrakech Airport. Our driver will be waiting to transfer you to your riad, where you will spend the night. If your arrival is in the morning or around midday, a local guide from Marrakech will accompany you on a city tour, showing you the main attractions and sharing insights into the city’s rich history and imperial heritage. The sightseeing tour includes the ancient Medina, the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombs, the Ben Youssef Quranic Mosque, Jamaa el-Fna Square, and other enchanting landmarks.

Today, on your second day in Morocco, we leave the vibrant city of Marrakech behind and drive across the High Atlas Mountains. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the stunning snow-capped peaks. Our journey takes us through the famous Tizi N’Tichka Pass, which sits at an altitude of 2,260 meters above sea level. We then continue to the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a remarkable fortified village designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.

This historic site has appeared in hundreds of international films and series, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Afterward, we travel onward to Ouarzazate and then to Kalaat M’Gouna, where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Rose Valley. By late afternoon, we arrive in Boumalne Dades, where you will spend the night in a beautiful riad nestled in the heart of the mountains.

Before continuing toward the Sahara Desert, we first visit the stunning Dades Gorge and the famous Monkey Fingers rock formations. Later, we head to another breathtaking gorge located about 30 kilometers from the city of Tinghir. Take time to walk along the river, appreciate the peaceful surroundings, and admire the beauty of nature. After lunch near the gorge, we continue our journey to Rissani, where we enjoy a short walk through its very ancient market, which comes alive three times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday).

From Rissani, we drive directly to our destination. Upon arrival in the Merzouga Desert, you will mount your camels and cross the captivating golden dunes on your way to the desert camp. At the camp, the staff will welcome you with a glass of mint tea and guide you to your tent. Later, enjoy a delicious dinner and traditional music around the campfire beneath a vast, star-filled sky.

As the sun rises over the desert, be sure not to miss the moment it may be one of the most spectacular sunrises of your life. After enjoying a traditional breakfast, we set out for a full day of exploration around the Merzouga region. Today’s visits include nomadic families, the Gnawa village, nearby oases, Mifiss Mountain, and other surrounding sites of the desert. After a day rich in discovery and local encounters, you will spend the night in a charming hotel located at the edge of the golden dunes.

Traveling from the Merzouga Desert to Fes reveals Morocco’s incredible diversity of landscapes and cultures. As the sun rises and the dunes slowly change color, we leave the peaceful silence of the desert behind. Our first stop today is Erfoud, a town famous for its fossil-rich terrain. We then continue to the Ziz Valley, where lush palm groves create a striking contrast with the surrounding arid land.

As we head farther north, the scenery transforms once again as the towering peaks of the Atlas Mountains come into view. After a lunch break, we continue to the Cedar Forest, home to ancient trees that stand as a testament to nature’s endurance. Later, we visit Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” known for its alpine-style architecture and clean, serene atmosphere. By the end of the day, we arrive in Fes for an overnight stay.

Today is dedicated to discovering Fes, just as you did in Marrakech. Accompanied by an experienced local guide, you will explore the rich history of one of the world’s oldest cities. The tour begins at the impressive Golden Gates of the Royal Palace, where you can admire the detailed craftsmanship and historical significance, even though entry is restricted. You will then walk along the palace walls and appreciate their grand scale. Next, visit a traditional ceramics factory to watch skilled artisans create vases, bowls, glasses, tiles, and intricate mosaics entirely by hand.

Afterward, continue into the heart of the ancient Medina to explore its most important landmarks, including the Bou Inania Madrasa, the famous tanneries, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the Al Quaraouiyine University and Mosque. At the end of the sightseeing tour, your driver will pick you up and transfer you back to the riad for your second overnight stay in Fes.

Today, explore Morocco’s rich cultural and archaeological heritage as we travel from Fes to Chefchaouen. After breakfast and packing your luggage, we depart Fes and head toward Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. Known for its massive gates and historic architecture, Meknes reflects the grandeur of Morocco’s royal past.

Our next stop is Volubilis, an impressive UNESCO World Heritage Site that showcases Morocco’s Roman history. As you walk among the ancient columns, mosaics, and ruins, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation for the civilizations that once thrived here.

After this fascinating visit, we continue our journey through scenic landscapes toward Chefchaouen. By late afternoon, we arrive in the Blue City, where you are free to wander through its charming blue-washed alleys and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Overnight stay in a beautiful traditional riad.

The final day of your 8 Day Morocco itinerary begins with a scenic journey from Chefchaouen to Tangier, with interesting stops along the way. Upon arrival, we will explore Tangier’s historic Medina, where cultures from Africa and Europe blend seamlessly. We then continue to Cape Spartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea, offering breathtaking coastal views. Next, visit the legendary Hercules Cave, steeped in myth and history. At the appropriate time, we will transfer you to Tangier Airport, marking the end of your unforgettable 8 Day itinerary Morocco.
