Get up early today; we have a long journey to the Sahara Desert ahead of us. Have your breakfast, and let us continue the adventure. During our journey, we will stop at several amazing locations. Just an hour after leaving Fes, we make a stop at Ifrane, often referred to as the Switzerland of Morocco due to its resemblance to Swiss architecture, immaculate streets, and abundant snowfall compared to other cities. Afterward, we make a second stop at the cedar forest, which is renowned for its wild monkey population. Commercial ships from Gibraltar carry emigrating monkeys.

Later, make a pause for lunch, then we continue driving to Ziz Valley, a breathtaking panoramic view where only palm trees grow up to form a great oasis. After nine hours of driving, we will finally arrive at the Sahara Desert. In Merzouga Desert you will be traversing the golden dunes to arrive at your camp. Feel free to ask the camel guide to stop whenever you want, whether for pictures or to catch a breathtaking sunset. Day 3: Merzouga Desert Excursion

Your third day of Morocco 5-Day Tour starts with a round-trip trip to many enchanting places that you will fall in love with. First, we will visit the backpackers, also known as nomads. Indeed, nomads reside everywhere in Morocco, whether in the Atlas or the Sahara. Here, they have set up their handwoven tents behind the dunes and established their livelihood by offering tea glasses to anyone passing by. Either tourists or Arabic people. Tipping is much appreciated here. Later, visit Meffis, which is famous for its fossil foundation, eyeliner mine, and numerous other minerals.

Thereafter, we go to the Gnawa musicians, where we can have a second tea glass while listening to their ancient African rhythms. Later, we make a pause for lunch at a nearby local restaurant. Next, take a walk to a fabulous oasis near the dunes to see what’s growing here. Finally, we drive late in the afternoon to the hotel. If you still like, you can rent a quad and drive through the dunes or “sandboard” (free rental).

Distance:  40 Km from Around the Desert.

    Duration:  4 Hours of Exploration.

Day 4: Merzouga Desert - Errisani - Todgha Gorge - Bomalen Dades

Today, following a traditional Moroccan breakfast, we depart from the desert and journey to Errisani. Here, we will explore its enchanting market, a centuries-old center of commerce and trade, renowned for its distinctive products and vibrant atmosphere. Here, the vendors offer various traditional Moroccan goods, like spices, pottery, and textiles. Handmade using traditional techniques passed down through generations, the fabrics are perfect for adding a pop of color and texture to any room in your home.

From Rissani, we move towards the charming gorge of Todgha, a place where you can feel nature and fascinate yourself with a magical view of rivers, mountains, and rocks. Feel free to take a walk and enjoy the maximum amount of time here before we set off again. Not far from the Gorge, we will stop by again for lunch in a Berber local restaurant. In the late afternoon, we will reach our main destination for an overnight stay at a fantastic Riad located in the heart of the mountains.

    Meals included:  Breakfast and Dinner.

    Distance:  253 Km

Day 5: Boumalne Dades - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah - Tizi N'Tichka - Marrakech

Today is the last day of your 5-day tour in Morocco. After a nice breakfast in your riad, we will depart for Marrakech but before we will pay a short visit to the enchanting gorge of Dades, where you will have a breathtaking overlooking view of Tissadrin curves, which are considered one of Morocco’s most dangerous curves. After some time, we move on to Kalaat M’Gouna, where a stunning valley of roses is located.

In the area, you can visit one of the women’s cooperatives that specializes in producing different products from roses that grow in the region. Next, proceed to Ouarzazate, dubbed the Hollywood of Morocco due to the numerous films shot here annually. This has led to the city’s global fame. Furthermore, we will head to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a fortified UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978.

Explore the caves and passes of the Kasbah at your leisure and ascend to the watchtower room for a breathtaking view of the oases and the modern side of the Kasbah. After lunch, we continue our journey to Marrakech, making a final stop at the Tizi N T’ichka Pass, situated 2260 meters above sea level. Frequently asked questions?

    5 Day in Morocco itinerary
If you need help, we have a list of frequently asked questions and answers. We strive to give you the most important information possible. Click a question below to view the answer.

    Is Morocco Special for Shopping?

Absolutely. Marrakech is the most colorful of all Moroccan cities when it comes to traditional shopping, as it has been for hundreds of years. For many tourists, shopping is a central part of their trip, and in Morocco, there are so many exotic products to browse and choose from. “Souks” are the traditional Arab markets.

    • Souks or souqs are the traditional name for a market or bazaar that features a wide variety of stalls, booths, or small stores, usually specializing in one thing.

Souqs primarily offer items such as leather, carpets, metalwork, pottery, traditional Muslim clothing, traditional lanterns, nuts and dried fruits, jewelry, argan oil, and much more. There is an amazing variety of spices, teas, nuts, and other exotic products.

As a woman do I need to wear a headcovering?

No, tourists can mostly wear what they like, but it is advisable to dress modestly (i.e., no mini skirts or bikini tops in public) so as not to offend the locals.

How long should I go for?

Go for at least two weeks; if one only has limited time, then prioritize Marrakesh. Here, you will get the fastest insight into the diverse and colorful culture of Morocco.

Can I exchange money in Morocco?

You can always exchange euros across the country. You can even pay in euros very frequently. Swiss Francs are not very popular, so you have to go to an official exchange office or bank to exchange them. If you can’t pay in EUR, we recommend directly changing MAD (Moroccan dirham) upon arrival. Coins in foreign currency, however, are not welcome.

    Whats about the water?

It is advisable not to drink the water from the tap, even if local people do. They’re used to it. However, water is readily available everywhere. A bottle costs about 6 MAD (60 cents).

What tour should I go for to Morocco?

There are many excellent tours offered throughout Morocco. Everyone should consider the following tours: camping with the nomads in the desert, taking camel rides in the desert, exploring the Altas Mountains, and visiting the UNESCO-protected Ouarzazate. While Marrakech is the starting point for many of these tours, other common arrival points in the country also offer them. Ask our team at Africa North Journeys.
