An experienced driver guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech to make a mark for a 4-day trip from Marrakech to Fes via the Sahara Desert. Today we will be crossing the high Atlas Mountains with a stop at the highest point of this incredible mountain, known as the Tizi N’T’ichka pass, with an elevation of 2260 meters above sea level.

Next, as we continue towards our destination, Boumalne Dades, we should visit the renowned Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. Built in the 11th century, this site gained global fame for filming numerous movies and series, including The Game of Thrones, The Mummy, and The Gladiator, among others. Later on, we set off again for Ouarzazate, the Berber city, whose name means “without noise.” We will capture a memorable photo in front of the ancient Taouririt Kasbah, which suffered damage from the recent earthquake.

After enjoying some free time for lunch, we will continue our journey to the Rose City (Kalaat M’Gouna), where you can visit one of the women’s cooperatives that produce handmade products from rose flowers, including body cream, soap, shampoo, and more. Finally, we drop you off in a cozy riad for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Dades Gorge » Todgha Gorge » Sahara Desert of Merzouga

Today, your 4-day Morocco Desert Tour takes us to Merzouga’s Sahara Desert. Once you have breakfast, we visit the monkey finger rocks and the gorgeous gorge of Dades, where the exotic and natural lie. Feel free to take a short walk along this fascinating gorge, and then we set off again to another mesmerizing gorge called Todgha.

Take another stroll along the river that carved its way through limestone for many centuries, creating a natural oasis in this place. The canyon walls make the gorge unique and one of the most visited attractions, reaching over 400 meters in height. Later, after a pause for lunch, we leave for the Sahara Desert via Rissani Market. Once we arrive at the desert, Ride your camels lying at the edge of the dunes and let them cross the golden dunes.

Stop in the middle of the dunes to watch a wonderful sunset, then continue to your desert camp. Upon arrival at the camp, a tea glass awaits you, followed by a shower in your tent, a typical Berber dinner, and a night party filled with drums, music, and other instruments. Before retiring for the night, observe the stars on your own.

Day 3: Sahara Desert Excursion by 4*4 (Visit Nomads, Gnawa, Oasis)

Your Morocco tour dedicates the third day to exploring the desert area. They will welcome you with traditional Berber tea and nuts, and we will spend a half-hour or an entire hour with them, observing their lifestyle and exploring their wooden and camel-skin homes.

We also visit Mefiss, where locals extract minerals, eyeliner, and fossils. Furthermore, we will visit Khamlia Village, where black-skinned people migrated from Mali, Sudan, South Africa, and other countries to live in Morocco. We’ll stay to enjoy their show and music, then take a break for lunch. After lunch, we visit one of the area’s oases to discover what the locals are planting in the desert. We had a wonderful time with our tour guide. Moha and Hassan were available 24/7, always smiling, and always had water for us. Hassan is very knowledgeable about his country; he was accommodating to our needs and made us feel safe and comfortable. We enjoyed the camel ride and the riads, especially Riad Ksar Anica in Marrakesh. The tenting accommodations could use some improvement. Thank you, Moha, for helping us plan a trip of a lifetime. Thank you to Hassan for making it memorable.
