The southeast region is one of the best-visited places in Morocco. From Marrakech, your driver will do his best to let you see and discover every single place that might be interesting. The first site you will be diving into for its history is the ancient Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified Kasbah that was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987.
Your 7-day Morocco Tour continues to Ouarzazate, a city famous as the “Hollywood of Africa.” Next to the enchanting City of Roses (Kalaat M’Gouna), visit Dades and Todgha Gorges, and later spend two wonderful days in the Sahara Desert of Merzouga. After a fantastic experience in Merzouga, you’ll head north to Fes, via Ziz Valley, Cedar Forest, and Ifrane. The 1-week itinerary in Morocco comes to an end in Fes.
Your 7-day Morocco tour from Marrakech begins with a pick-up from the airport in Marrakech by an experienced tour guide from Africa North Journeys Agency. After meeting your guide, he will transport you to your traditional riad in the medina for an overnight stay.
Embrace the vibrant culture, fascinating history, and breathtaking beauty of Marrakech. Set off on a city tour after meeting a local guide. Here’s a summary of the places you can expect to visit: The Quranic Mosque of Ben Youssef, Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and the Old Medina (Market) are among the places you may expect to see. Explore the mosques of Koutoubia and Jamaa el-Fna. Once you say goodbye to your local guide, you’re free to explore the Medina at your own pace. Have dinner at the Square of Jamaa el F’na before you return to the Riad for the Overnight stay.
Today, we depart from Marrakech and make our way to Boumalne Dades which we will be arriving in the afternoon. Along the way, we will be stopping several times to witness the magical view of each interesting place. 2 hours after leaving Marrakech, we stop in Tizi N’T’ichka, nestled in the middle of the high Atlas Mountains. Thereafter, we stop again in Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Feel free here to wander as you wish.
Later, just near the Kasbah, we can have lunch at a local restaurant. From there, we continue on to Boumalne Dades, passing through the famous city of Ouarzazate and the enchanting Valley of Roses. Once we arrive in Boumalne, we will pay a short visit to the breathtaking gorge of Dades and Monkey Finger’s Rock. Finally, you will be dropped off at your Riad for an overnight stay.
Once you finish your breakfast and pack your luggage, we visit the Monkey Finger Rock and the breathtaking Gorge that lies between Msamrir and Boumalne. It’s an incredible site where every traveler can witness the view of mountains, rivers, and curves. From the gorge of Dades, we drive to the Gorges of Todgha, which extend over a distance of 25 kilometers. They are solid, rocky components that do not break easily. The turbid Todgha Valley, flowing year-round, penetrates them.
Have a walk along the river, then we set off again towards Rissani Market. Once we arrive, we will have a walking tour that lasts half an hour in the market to see how different it is from Marrakech’s Market. Lunch in Rissani, then a trip to the Merzouga Desert eave. Experience a camel trek into the desert, marveling at the ever-changing landscapes of the dunes. Stay overnight at a luxury camp in the heart of the Sahara.
Our journey to see the Gnawa musicians begins today. We’ll also visit a fossil museum and have tea with the actual nomads who live behind the erg Chebbi dunes. Later on, to Mefiss, where many mines exist even after Morocco’s independence, some locals are still extracting fossils, eyeliner, and minerals from 100 to 300 meters underground. Next, we will have lunch at a local restaurant that specializes in making Berber pizza. After that, we continue our explorations and visit one of the area’s oases! If you love to try the experience of quads in the desert, inform your driver with that so he can arrange it. Afterwards we will transfer you to the hotel. If you still want to enjoy your time in the dunes, take the “sandboard (free rental)”. Dinner at the hotel.
Our visit to Morocco’s southeast ends here! Today we leave the Sahara Desert and drive to Fes, known as the scientific capital of Morocco. Along the way, we will stop in the charming panoramic overlooking the Ziz Valley. Later, we will stop for lunch either in Zaida or Medilt; furthermore, we will visit the Cedar Forest, where the wild Barbary Macaques live. Feel free to feed them if you wish but be careful; they are a bit dangerous. Afterwards, we continue to Ifrane, the little Switzerland of Morocco. Take enough time to wander in this enchanting city before we hit the road again. Later on, we continue to Fes, where we will spend two incredible nights at a traditional Riad located in the heart of the Medina.
Today is dedicated solely to discovering the history of this ancient city. The city tour begins at the golden royal palace’s gates. Moving on to the ancient medina, a maze of narrow alleys and bustling markets where centuries-old traditions come to life, Feel free to marvel at the architectural wonders of Bou Inania Madrasa and Al-Attarine Madrasa. Discover Fes’ historic significance at the University of Al Quaraouiyine, the world’s oldest continuously operating university.
