One Week in Morocco

Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca & Drive to Chefchaouen via Rabat

Welcome to Morocco! Your driver guide is at the Mohamed V International Airport, waiting for your arrival! Once you arrive, he will transfer you to the city center to see the famous landmark in Casablanca, the Hassan II Mosque. A mosque, with an important part of it extending across the width of the sea, is considered a source of pride for Morocco, as well as a distinctive architectural and technological icon. Later, we leave Casablanca and take the highway towards Rabat, the royal city and current capital of Morocco. You will be visiting the following places in Rabat first: An architectural gem built during the Almohad era. The tower stands as a testament to the kingdom’s history and the Islamic architecture that subtly signified significant periods for the country’s succeeding civilizations. You will also visit:

Oudayas Kasbah

It is an enchanting location that offers visitors unparalleled beauty, including an Andalusian-style garden, a museum, several riads, and several mosques. The Andalusian influence is omnipresent, evident in the uniformly plastered walls, the dominant blue-hued doors, and the wrought-iron windows. UNESCO has designated the Kasbah of the Udayas as a World Heritage Site, elevating it to a true sanctuary of tranquility and creative inspiration.

Thereafter, from Rabat, we continue on our way to Chefchaouen, crossing the beautiful scenery of the Rif Mountains and the spectacular landscapes of the north side of Morocco. Once we arrive, get to explore the charming small city of Chefchaouen, also known as Blue Pearl or Blue City. You can have a memorable walk in the fabulously painted blue and white alleys. Also, if time permits, take a stroll to the dazzling Spanish mosque located over the hill. Spend the night at a charming riad located in the heart of Medina.

Meals included:  Only Breakfast is included at the hotel.

Distance: 344 km From Casablanca to Chefchaouen

Duration: 6–7 Hours with Stops

Day 2: Chefchaouen - Volubilis - Meknes - Fes

An incredible journey is about to start towards a mesmerizing land of civilization and history. After breakfast, at around 9:00 am, we leave the blue city and make our way to Fes, passing through Volubilis, a Roman ruin that hides a cultural mix. It was a historic city that brought together multiple cultures and races 2,500 years ago, and its remains are full of life and history. At this ancient historical site, you have enough time to wander around the ruins or even hire a guide to better understand the hidden secrets of the Roman ruins.

Visit the Imperial Meknes

After our visit, we move to Meknes, one of the four imperial cities of Morocco. Its origins date back to the 11th century AD, during the Almoravid era. This city knew the height of its prosperity during the reign of the Alawite Sultan Moulay Ismail, who made it a capital under his rule that extended from the year 1672 to the year 1727 AD. Since its founding, this city has witnessed the construction of several urban facilities, many of which still stand as testaments to its rich cultural and architectural heritage. Afterward, we continue to our destination, Fes, where we will stay overnight in a charming traditional Riad.

Meals included:  Only Breakfast is included at the Riad.

Distance: 197 Km from Chefchaouen to Fes.

Duration: 5-6 Hours including Stops.

Duration: 5–6 Hours with Stops

Day 3: Sightseeing tour in Fes with a Local tour Guide

Today is a day of exploration and contemplation of the ancient city of Fez’s landmarks and secrets. Due to its extensive religious and political history, Fez, the spiritual capital of Morocco, has twice served as the country’s capital and is considered the birthplace of many Muslim religious scholars. Fez is one of the oldest cities in Morocco.

It was founded by Idris I on the banks of the Fez Valley in 789 AD, followed by Idris II in 809 AD. The Almoravids united the two parts during the eleventh century, transforming it into a major Islamic city. Your visit to this historical city begins outside, where you can discover the ceramics factory, a lively source of income for hundreds of handcrafters.

Get Lost in the Medina

Next, visit Borj Sud, which offers a great panoramic view of the old Medina and its surroundings. After that, wander with your local guide inside the medina to discover the souks and hidden secrets of the Al-Mallah neighborhood. Also visit the Medrasa Bouanania and the Najjarine Fountain. The tanneries, followed by Quaraouin’s mosque and university, are the final stops on your tour. When your city tour concludes in the afternoon, we will transfer you to your traditional riad for overnight stay.

Meals included:  Only Breakfast is included.

Distance: Around 10 Km Inside the city

Duration:  4-5 Hours of the Sightseeing tour.

Day 4: Fes - Ifrane - Cedar Forest - Ziz Valley - Merzouga Desert

Leave Fes behind and drive onward to the southeast of Morocco. We will make our first stop in Ifrane, the “Switzerland of Morocco.” It’s located at an altitude of more than 5,413 feet, highlighting the similarity between the Atlas Mountains in Ifrane and the Alps in Switzerland. The “authenticity of the stunning architecture, which was inspired by French colonialism at the time,” is also appreciated, with the houses’ roofs remaining elegantly red and the flower orchards still vibrant. From there, we move on to the Cedar Forest, which is more than eight centuries old, is located in the middle of the Atlas Cedar Forest.

Cedar Forest info!

Despite its drought and the loss of its leaves for more than ten years, it is still a witness to the inhabitation of cedar trees in the Middle Atlas Mountains for thousands of years. This tree bears the name of the French general Henri Joseph Eugène Corot, who ruled the region during the French protectorate. In the forest, you’ll encounter numerous wild monkeys which have taken refuge on the side of the road in the middle of the forest. They seek food from every passerby, so you’re welcome to feed them, but please exercise caution.

Leave the Atlas Mountains

Next, we continue to Zaida for lunch, then have a last stop at the panoramic view of the Ziz Valley before reaching our destination, the Merzouga Desert, where the Erg Chebbi dunes lie. After crossing the small and high dunes by camel for an hour and a half to two hours, you can reach a beautiful desert camp in the middle of the dunes, where you will spend your first night. At the camp, a memorable moment awaits you under a Berber drum rhythm in a clear blue sky full of stars.

Meals included:  Breakfast and Dinner included.

Distance:  460 Km from Fes to Sahara Desert.

Duration:  8-9 Hours with Stops.

Day 5: Embark on a Day of exploration around Merzouga Desert

The fifth day of your Moroccan tour will not be unique if you do not wake up early to enjoy the most beautiful sunrise in your life and watch the color of the sand gradually change in clear weather with a wide blue sky. You will embark on a Berber-style day of exploration after breakfast at the camp. Perhaps the beginning will be a visit to the backpackers (nomads).

They set up their camel-skin houses behind the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi, earning their livelihood by serving tea to tourists in a hand-made tent. Give yourself ample time to explore the area before proceeding to the renowned mountain known as Meffis. The French army once colonized this location during the establishment of Morocco’s protectorate. Natural resources, such as valuable minerals and eyeliner, are abundant in this area.

Visit Gnawa Village (Khamlia)

From there, we travel to the famous Khamilia village, home to a tribe of indigenous people with dark black skin who have come from Mali, Senegal, and other countries to make Merzouga their permanent home. In the region, they founded the first association in Morocco specifically for Gnawa music, which is played under various rhythms, allowing every listener to immerse themselves in the words and melodies. Lastly, enjoy lunch in the same tribe at a traditional restaurant specializing in Berber pizza. In the afternoon, we will take you to your hotel to spend the rest of the day by the pool.

Meals included:  Breakfast and Dinner included.

Distance:  40 Km from Around the Desert.

Duration:  4 Hours of Exploration.

Day 6: Merzouga Desert - Errisani - Todgha Gorge - Bomalen Dades

A long day is about to begin. After a morning meal to gather energy and vitality, we head towards the city of Rissani, the cradle of the founding of the honorable Alawite state. Here, time travel combines with diving into Morocco’s most ancient, authentic markets. The city is the heart of regional commerce, thanks to its thousand-scented market. The market square is a place for meetings and exchanges, where merchants (traders) receive visitors from hundreds of nearby palaces. There is exceptional movement in the market on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays in particular. If you happen to visit on a live market day, you will experience both amazement and entertainment.

Visit Todgha Gorge!

Thereafter, continue to Todgha Gorge, where the magic of nature is rewarding, and the purity of the enchanting atmosphere lies. The place is peaceful, and the sound of the water and birds fills souls with solace. But separation, no matter how long it lasts, is inevitable. The trip will then continue to Boumalne Dades, which is our destination to spend the night amidst majestic mountains rising everywhere.

Meals included:  Breakfast and Dinner included.

Distance:  253 Km from Merzouga to Bomalne Dades.

Duration:  6-7 Hours with Stops.

Day 7: Boumalne Dades - Rose Valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah - Tizi N T'ichka - Marrakech

After breakfast today, we will continue our journey to Marrakech. However, before departing Dades, we will stop at the Fascinating Gorge, a captivating location that we’ll reach after traversing enchanting curves. We call this location Tissadrin. We will spend just a few minutes at this magnificent location before resuming our journey to Kalaat M’Gouna, where you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the Rose Valley.

You have the option to either visit one of the women’s cooperatives, where you can observe and learn how they produce various products from roses or continue our journey to Ouarzazate city. It is known for its film studios, which constitute the pride of the region, as visitors share the joy of learning about this Hollywood epic by visiting it throughout the year.

Visit Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah

Thereafter, we move towards Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. The stunning display of southern Moroccan architecture is believed to date back to the 17th century and contains a mosque, two cemeteries (Jewish and Muslim), a public square, and grain-threshing areas outside the walls. Afterward, we set off again, heading directly to the red city of Marrakech, where your 7-day Morocco itinerary will come to an end.

Meals included:  Only Breakfast included.
