Africa North Journeys’ driver guide will welcome you in Casablanca, picking you up from the Mohammed V International Airport, which is half an hour away from downtown Casablanca. If time permits, we will invest some time to visit the huge mosque known as the Hassan II Mosque, a historical landmark that embodies the characteristics of Arab-Islamic architecture in terms of shape, decoration, size, and location.
Morocco’s centuries-long legacy of culturally rich building art served as inspiration for its architecture. It is one of a series of Islamic installations and buildings that revive the Andalusian heritage while preserving the Moroccan architectural form. We highly recommend paying the ticket and entering to delve deeper into the hidden secrets of this unique landmark.
Thereafter, we continue to Fes via Rabat, the royal capital city. Among the monuments that we will visit is the Hassan Tower, a prominent landmark that is unmistakable to the visitor’s eye. An earthquake that struck the region in 1755 greatly affected it, making it one of the largest mosques at a time. The Almoravids built the Kasbah of the Udayas, a fortified castle, at the mouth of the Bouregreg River. After lunch, we proceed directly to Fes, the scientific city and one of Morocco’s four imperial cities.
Meals included: Only Breakfast is included.

Good morning! A new day means a fresh adventure and positive energy for a full exploration day. Pack your luggage and let the wonders take us to their world. After a typical breakfast in your traditional riad in Fes, we will drive onward to the magic dunes of Merzouga. Along the way, we will encounter fascinating landscapes and magnificent overlooking sites, making our first stop at the enchanting cave city of Ifrane, not far from Fes. The name, which translates to “cave” in Berber, refers to the numerous caves in the mountains that nomads built to shelter from the snowy seasons.
Thereafter, we will set off again to the Cedar Forest in Azrou, a forest that became a home for the emigrated Barbary macaques (monkeys). You are welcome to feed the wild monkeys, but we strongly recommend exercising caution. After lunch in Midelt or Zaida, we proceed to the Ziz Valley, which offers an enchanting view of countless palm trees, making it the second-largest oases in Morocco. Next, we head directly to Erdoud, the Gate to the Sahara, as well as the region’s fossils and land of dates. This small, rich city exports tons of dates to other Moroccan cities and even to Europe.
Finally, we will arrive in the stunning desert of Merzouga, home to the renowned Chebbi dunes. Cute camels will transport you safely to the desert camp, enabling you to cross the stunning big and small dunes. On the way, you will make a stop at a sand hill to catch what might be the best sunset ever. Once you reach your camp, you will immerse yourself in a world of wonder, starting with a delectable dinner and culminating in an exhilarating fireside moment, accompanied by Berber drums and rhythms.

Absolutely. Marrakech is the most colorful of all Moroccan cities when it comes to traditional shopping, as it has been for hundreds of years. For many tourists, shopping is a central part of their trip, and in Morocco, there are so many exotic products to browse and choose from. “Souks” are the traditional Arab markets.
Souqs primarily offer items such as leather, carpets, metalwork, pottery, traditional Muslim clothing, traditional lanterns, nuts and dried fruits, jewelry, argan oil, and much more. There is an amazing variety of spices, teas, nuts, and other exotic products.
No, tourists can mostly wear what they like, but it is advisable to dress modestly (i.e., no mini skirts or bikini tops in public) so as not to offend the locals.
Go for at least two weeks; if one only has limited time, then prioritize Marrakesh. Here, you will get the fastest insight into the diverse and colorful culture of Morocco.
You can always exchange euros across the country. You can even pay in euros very frequently. Swiss Francs are not very popular, so you have to go to an official exchange office or bank to exchange them. If you can’t pay in EUR, we recommend directly changing MAD (Moroccan dirham) upon arrival. Coins in foreign currency, however, are not welcome.
It is advisable not to drink the water from the tap, even if local people do. They’re used to it. However, water is readily available everywhere. A bottle costs about 6 MAD (60 cents).
