Morocco Itinerary: 15 Days Tour from Tangier

    Morocco Itinerary 15 Days

Day 1: Arrival in Tangier » Discover the city » Chefchaouen

The driver from Africa North Journeys will meet you at the airport to begin the 15 days in Morocco. Before heading to Chefchaouen, we will make a city tour in Tangier, known as the Bride of the North, a city that has many landmarks to show. Firstly, we will visit Hercule’s cave. According to Greek legend, the grotto is the result of Hercules’ rage, which separated Africa and Europe with his bare arms. Discovered in 1906, the cave is considered one of the largest caves on the African continent, carved by nature in the belly of a mountain leaning against the sea in a space overlooking two seafronts, the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, in a wonderful panoramic scene that gives the visitor a sense of pleasure and beauty.

Next, we visit Cape Spartel. Sultan Muhammad bin Abdulrahman first established it in 1864 AD, almost a century and 59 years ago, before it underwent several transformations and modifications. After that, we continue with a small Medina Walk to discover how and where people still live. Once you finish strolling around and having lunch, we drive to Chefchaouen, the blue city of Morocco. Upon arrival, we will drop you off in a beautiful riad for the night.

Day 2: Chefchaouen » Free Exploration Day

Ready to Explore the blue pearl of Morocco! Once you wake up in the Morning have a delicious breakfast in your host then start strolling at the city’s blue alleys. Later visit Ras el Ma a fascinating place where you enjoy a fresh orange juice as well as you can have lunch at the middle of a small river. Next make a hike to the Spanish Mosque to see a wonderful view of the Blue city from up of the hill. Thereafter back to the Medina to continue strolling. Once you have dinner in one of the restaurants at the city’s heart make your way back to the Riad for a second Night.

    Day 3: Chefchaouen » Volubilis » Meknes » Fes

Today we leave Chefchaouen and drive to Fes, known as the scientific capital. Along the way, we will stop several times to discover all the interesting sites, the first of which is Volubilis. The city is one of Morocco’s and the world’s oldest historical and archaeological monuments. Carthaginians and Romans inhabited the foundation of this city, known as “Volubilis” in Latin, dating back to the third century BC, before it gradually faded into a mere “trace after the eye.”

After all the historical glory that the city of “Volubilis” gained over time and after the passage of all the peoples and countries that lived in it, it became a historical ruin, but it is a vibrant and grandiose ruin, targeted by thousands of tourists to learn about part of Morocco’s ancient history. Afterwards, we leave for Meknes, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities and, for a period of time, Morocco’s capital. Feel free to visit Bab el Mansour, Hri Souani, Sahrij, Qara Prison, and Moulay Ismail’s renowned mausoleum. Later, we leave for Fes, where we will spend the night.

Day 4: Fes » City Tour with a Local Guide

Explore the world’s most ancient Medina today. After having your breakfast, we will meet you with a local tour guide who will show you and explain everything that can be interesting! First, discover the palace’s golden gates, then embark on an overlooking panorama to watch the Old Medina of Fes from the top of the hill. Afterwards, we take you to visit the pottery factory. In Fes, its famous handcrafters produce hundreds of different pottery products. Thereafter, dive into the history of Fes by entering the old Medina, where you can explore the following sites: the Quaraouin mosque, Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine fountain, and the tanneries. Later, after having lunch in a local restaurant, say goodbye to your local guide, and our driver will meet you to transfer you to your riad.

Day 5: Fes » Ifrane » Cedar Forest » Ziz Valley » Sahara Desert (Merzouga)

Today we leave Fes and drive to the Golden Dunes of Merzouga. Along the road, we will make several breaks and stops to break up the long way that lies ahead of us. First, an hour after our departure, we reach the small Moroccan Switzerland, whose real name is Ifrane. Located between the cities of Fez and Meknes, which are characterized by ancient history and dominated by picturesque nature, waterfalls, and its wonderful snowy mountains, the city of Ifrane is located at an altitude of 1,655 meters above sea level and has been ranked among the cleanest cities in the Arab world and the eighth globally.

From Ifrane, we continue to the Cedar Forest of Azrou, where the Barbary Macaques live. If you are lucky, we will find them just beside the route. Feel free to feed them if you desire. Next stop is Zaida for lunch, then drive again to Ziz Valley, where you can see a fabulous panoramic view of thousands of palm trees. Finally, after 8 hours, we reach the golden dunes of Merzouga, where an unforgettable experience of camel rides awaits. Mount your camel and cross the dunes. Enjoy a delicious dinner and a Berber party at the camp.

Day 6: Roundtrip in Sahara Desert of Merzouga

Good morning, ready to continue the 15 Days in Morocco tour? Once you have breakfast at the desert camp, mount back your camel and cross once again the dunes to reach the same pick-up point as yesterday. Upon arrival, your driver will pick you up to explore the Merzouga region. First, you will visit Khamlia Village, where black-skinned people live. The inhabitants are known as Gnawa because they play African rhythms. By the way, the original inhabitants here in the villages are from Mali, Senegal, South Africa, and other countries.

They have immigrated to Morocco to run away from poverty and the bad circumstances in their original countries. Give them a tip for the music, then we head to Mefiss, a mountain that the French colonized prior to Morocco’s independence The area is rich in minerals, eyeliner stones, and fossils. Later, we continue to discover the lifestyle of one of the Nomad’s families, who lives behind the Erg Chebbi Dunes. After having a cup of tea with them, we pay a tip, then we leave for lunch in a Berber restaurant. After our journey ends, we transfer you to the hotel for the night.

Day 7: Merzouga Desert » Rissani » Todgha Gorge » Boumalne Dades

The 15 days in Morocco starts after having your breakfast at the hotel, Today we leave the desert’s silent and fascinating landscapes and drive to Boumalne Dades. Via Rissani city, Rissani is the cradle of the Alaouite state and a major center in the Rachidia region. As the heir to the historic city of Sijlamasa, it enjoys a distinctive religious and commercial character in the region.

It is proud of its centuries-old palaces, interspersed with lush oases, and its history-laden monuments, especially its souk, which has existed since the eighth century. In this magical city, we will only have a walking tour of its market. Next, we Drive again to Todgha Gorge, carved by the Todgha Valley to form towering limestone cliffs up to 300 meters high. The canyons are spectacular, as their walls rise vertically and plunge deep into the valley, making them a paradise for mountaineers and hikers. Thereafter, we set off to Boumalne Dades for the night.

Day 8: Boumalne Dades » Dades Gorge » Ouarzazate » Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah » Tizi N’Tichka » Marrakech

Today, we have so much to see and discover!! Before leaving Boumalne Dades, we will pay a short visit to the Mesmarzing Gorges in the area. The Gorges of Dades, located between Boumalne Dades and Msamrir, are a legendary place with a rich history and varied terrain. The Dades River, winding its way between the massifs of the High Atlas Mountains, forms this extraordinary natural site. During its course, it irrigates several lush oases that stretch southward in an unrivaled landscape of splendor. After capturing some memories, let’s proceed to Ouarzazate, a city situated between the desert and green valleys, bridging the past and present. It serves as the starting point for a journey to the southern region of Morocco, where we will discover numerous kasbahs, palaces, and sand dunes, all while immersing ourselves in the authentic and traditional lifestyle of the region’s inhabitants. From Ouarzazate, we move to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah.

    Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah!

Spacious, luxurious, and isolated from the city, the Ait Ben Haddou Palace is a testament to southern Morocco’s predominant mud-brick architecture. In 1987, UNESCO inscribed the palace on its World Heritage List. It remains perhaps one of the most well-preserved palaces in Morocco. Located 30 kilometers west of Ouarzazate, this fortified citadel is an attractive destination for a tourist trip. It takes you on a journey through time and space, and it offers a wonderful setting for unique and unforgettable souvenir photos. It wasn’t for nothing that directors chose this palace to shoot their movies! Afterward, we continue to Marrakech via Tizi N’tichka, pass an elevation of 2260 meters above sea level. Upon arrival in Marrakech, we will drop you off at the beautifully decorated Medina Riad.

Day 9: Sightseeing tour in Marrakech

Similar to Fes, you will explore the city’s attractions with a local tour guide who knows every single corner of the city and all of its hidden gems! Meet your guide at the Riad and go explore the city. The tour lasts around 3 hours and includes the following sites: Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Quranic Mosque, and the Old Medina (Market). You will first visit the Koutoubia Mosque, then proceed to the Jamaa el Fna. Once you’ve said your goodbyes to your local guide, you can continue exploring the Medina by yourself. Overnight in the same riad.

    Day 10: Marrakech » Essaouira

Continue with your remaining 15 days in Morocco. Today, we drive to Essaouira, leaving Marrakech behind. We will need a full three hours to get from Marrakech to Essaouira, plus a few stops along the route for coffee or at one of the tucked-away Argan women’s cooperatives. When we arrive in Essaouira, check into your riad and enjoy some free time to stroll and swim at the beach.

Day 11: Free Day in Essaouira

Today is absolutely a free day in Essaouira. Feel free to wander all around the beautiful, cozy, artistic town and make your lunch today a fish plate to taste the Moroccan fish. Later, visit Sqala and the beach, and why not try an activity like quads or horseback?

    Day 12: Essaouira » Casablanca

Today, 375 km lie ahead of us. Pack your luggage, have your breakfast, and let’s hit the road to Casablanca! The whole way is just a highway; unfortunately, we won’t visit any cities, but you can still at least enjoy the beautiful landscapes along the way between Essaouira and Casablanca. Stop for lunch on the way, and then we continue to our destination. Once we arrive, we transfer you directly to your hotel, where you can spend the rest of the day relaxing.

    Day 13: Casablanca » Rabat » Asilah

Goof Morning! Today we have another long drive to Asilah. But your driver guide will break it up by several stops, either in Rabat or other places for coffee or a toilet! Once we reach Rabat, be ready to dive into a deep history. Founded in the twelfth century by Abdul Mumin, the first ruler of the Almohads, the city of Rabat sits on the Atlantic Ocean’s coast, separated from the city of Salé by the Abu Ruqraq River.

    When The City Was Established?

The city of Rabat was established to be a gathering point for the mujahideen in it and to respond to attacks on them, and the city was in the era of Abdul Mumin, a fortified castle to protect the army, and in the era of Yacoub Al-Mansour, the city of Rabat became the capital of his state, and he fortified it with impregnable and towering walls to protect it, and he also built and constructed many buildings. During the Saadi era in 1609, the city of Rabat and the city of Sale were united, and in the same year the Muslims coming from Andalusia were approved to reside in it. In Rabat, we will visit Hassan Tower, Oudayas Kasbah, Hassan II, and Mohamed V Mausoleum. Thereafter, we leave for Asilah, where you will spend the night in a charming hotel.

Day 14: Free Relaxing Day in Asilah

Today is going to be wonderful, dedicated solely to relaxing at the beach in Asilah. After having your breakfast at the hotel, take a walking tour of the small artistic Medina of Asilah. The city of Asilah dates back more than two thousand years. Historians say that it received hordes of Phoenicians and Carthaginians before living a Roman history under the name “Zelis,” which most scholars believe is the origin of the city’s current name. Afterward, go to the cozy beach to relax under the sun.

    Day 15: Tangier Airport Transfer

Your 15-day Morocco itinerary comes to an end. Depending on your departure time, we will transfer you to Ibnu Battuta Tangier’s airport. We hope that this 15-day Morocco itinerary has shown you the real Morocco and fulfilled your needs.
