Once you meet the driver at the airport exit door, you will leave directly to visit this northern Moroccan city, on which we always focus on two main sites. The first one is the Hercule cave. Many myths, primarily from Greek culture, encircle the cave. One such tale claims that Hercules, a prisoner in the cave, attempted to escape one day and struck the wall. This resulted in a sizable hole that resembled the map of Africa, causing the two continents to split apart. Africans and Europeans.
The second visit is to Cape Spartel. It is one of the oldest lighthouses in the world and the first in Morocco’s network of 39 historic maritime lighthouses. “An accident involving a ship with 250 sea cadets on board and Sultan Mohammed bin Abdel Rahman’s instruction to erect this historic edifice at his expense” was the main reason for its construction. Lastly, make a walking tour of the ancient Medina. Later, we leave Tangier and set off in the direction of Chefchaouen, crossing the Rif Mountains. Upon arrival, we drop you off in your riad. Maybe the time still permits you to wander around the blue alleys to discover and live in the atmosphere of a northern town nestled in the deep mountains.
Say goodbye to the blue city and the Rif region as a whole. Today we drive to Fes, known as the Scientific Capital, where we will stay for two nights, discovering the most ancient Medina in the world. On our way to Fes, two amazing visits await. The first one is at Volubilis, famous as the Roman Empire. It is considered one of the most rich and exceptional archaeological sites in North Africa. Volubilis, an ancient Berber-Roman city, became one of the most important Berber cities before becoming the capital of the Kingdom of Mauritania.
Roman rule brought the city to its zenith of prosperity. It witnessed a great urban movement that was evident through temples, courts, baths, and the Arc de Triomphe, as well as houses decorated with mosaics and olive presses. If you are interested in entering this landmark, you have to pay the entry ticket first. From Volubilis, we continue to Meknes. Called the “Imperial City,” it boasts a fascinating centuries-old past with a vibrant city bustling with bustling souks, mosques, and madrassas, as well as Roman ruins dating back thousands of years. Meknes offers a mix of old and new, divided between the old city and its original countryside. Afterwards, we continue to Fes for the night.
Enjoy today touring The City of Fes with a Local tour guide of the area who will lead you safely and show you what this scientific capital city has to show! The whole day is dedicated to exploring the city from 9:00 o’clock of the morning to around 4:00 o’clock of the Afternoon. During your visit you will see the following historical sites; the Quaraouin mosque, Medrasa Bouanania, the Najjarine fountain, and the tanneries. Later, after having lunch in a local restaurant, say goodbye to your local guide, and our driver will meet you to transfer you to your riad.
Today we continue the adventure of the 8-day Morocco itinerary towards the golden dunes of Merzouga Desert! After leaving Fes we will cross The Middle Atlas Mountains to reach Ifrane, a Moroccan town known as Little Switzerland. The city’s vibrant flowerbeds and red-roofed chalets make for a lovely image against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks. Afterwards, we depart from Ifrane and travel to the renowned Cedar Forest, situated near Azrou. Here, we encounter the untamed Barbary macaques, who have migrated from Gibraltar to Morocco through commercial ships. After spending some time in the forest, we set off again to Zaida for a barbecue lunch, then we continue to Ziz Valley, where thousands of palm trees and terraced fields create a colorful mosaic against the backdrop of the dry desert.
Next, we continue to Erfoud, a city famous for fossils and dates. If we arrive early, we might do a small tour in the market. From there, we hit the road again, this time to Merzouga’s Sahara Desert where enormous dunes rise like golden waves. Upon arrival, ride your camel that was waiting for you for a while, cross the dunes, and make a stop in the middle of the dunes to catch a wonderful sunset, then mount your camel again to the desert camp. Once you arrive, the Berber staff will greet you with a mint glass of tea, serve you a Berber dinner, and invite you to join them for a music-filled gathering around the fire. Last but not least, spend some time reflecting while gazing up at the stars.
Today’s title is Getting Lost in the Desert. After a typical breakfast in your camp, ride the car or the camle back to the village to meet your driver. Once you meet him, start a sightseeing tour of the Sahara Desert region. The first visit you will make is to one of the nomad families that live behind the Erg Chebbi Dunes. The nomads will share the timeless hospitality of Berber culture while you sip sweet mint tea and hear stories about their nomadic lives.
Later, we leave the nomads and drive to Mefiss Mine, a mountain well-known for its minerals, fossils, and other finds. Afterwards, we move to Khamlia Village, where people with dark skin live. Feel free to listen to their magnificent music, but don’t forget to give a small tip to them. Lastly, we will do a small walking tour in one of the region’s oases. Finally, we transfer you to your hotel so you can spend the night there.
On day six of your 8-day trip to Morocco, we depart from the captivating Sahara Desert and make our way to Boumalne Dades. Today, we will embark on numerous visits, starting with the historic and traditional city of Rissani, where the echoes of bygone trade routes still resonate. Feel free to walk through the market, and you will surely realize that it’s too different from the markets in Fes and Chefchaouen. Fossils and Berber Pizza, known as Madoufan in Arabic, are the city’s two main attractions. Afterwards, we leave Rissani, driving further into the Atlas Mountains.
Once we arrive at the breathtaking Todgha Gorge, Enjoy the wonderful ambiance of the area by taking a leisurely stroll along the river. Furthermore, we continue to the breathtaking turns and twists of Dades Gorge, where historic rock formations stand vigil against the blue sky. Ultimately, we will take you to your riad for an overnight stay at a charming riad.
Today’s adventure begins in Boumalne Dades and continues onward. The journey to Marrakech takes you through the town of Kalaat M’Gouna, renowned for its fragrant rose gardens that blanket the valley in hues of pink and red. The most interesting thing you can visit here is a women’s cooperative, which specializes in making a various of rose products. Moreover, we proceed to Ouarzazate, known as “The Hollywood of Africa,” where vibrant markets and historic kasbahs offer a glimpse into the region’s vibrant history.
Last but not least, we will visit the fortified Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This Kasbah will take you back to the time of desert traders and caravanserais, where the ruins of every building speak to you about the past. You have enough time here to stroll as you wish before setting off again to Marrakech via the Tizi N’Tichka Pass. Later After we get to Marrakech, check into your accommodation, leave your belongings in the room, and explore the Medina and Jamaa el F’na square at your leisure.
